Chief Architect for Humanity
Opportunity Fund Projects

Updated January 2008
The Principals at Chief Architect, Inc. have been involved for years providing services to people in third world countries. The Opportunity Foundation, India located near Hyderabad, AP, builds and operates schools and clinics. The Foundation currently has:
- A 200 student primary school teaching lower K through grade 4
- Two nursery schools each having 80 children
- Two baby care centers each having 20 children
- A medical clinic serving 5,000 people in adjoining slums
- A community center educating 100 adults per day in micro enterprise, local language literacy and English conversation
- A roving health education group holding classes for 60 people per day
- A daily meal program for 400 children which prevents the stunted growth, both physical and intellectual, common to slum people
The Principals have now formed a new Opportunity Foundation to serve Thailand which will help serve child trafficking victims. The Thailand location was chosen since there are really no other non-governmental organizations or not-for-profit organizations serving this area. It is likely that if we did not provide the services, no one else would, and in most cases the losses to the people being served would be permanent.
Project Goals for Opportunity Foundation, Thailand
To build a women’s safe center for abused girls. Services would include health care and counseling for victims of sex crimes and the prostitution industry, school – providing supplemental education, legal assistance for prosecution of abusers and child traffickers, and prevention and intervention of child trafficking from Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar.

Safe Center Dormitory Rendering
The project will be funded by the principals at Chief Architect with the goal of having the project then self-supporting once it is completed. The current plan is to build the safe center dormitory and up to 32 homes that could then house just over 400 girls. The project is already off the ground with the purchase of 28 acres in the city. The company has typically used 30% of its profits to fund the Opportunity projects and is committed to the success of both projects for the long term.
Current Status of Opportunity Foundation, Thailand:
- Formed the not-for-profit entity in Thailand and established a board of directors with key relationships in the community
- Completed the purchase of 28 acres of land on an island in Nang Rong City
- Established a site plan for the development
- Completed the preliminary designs for the safe house dormitory for girls not permanently placed
- Completed the preliminary design permanent housing homes which are expected to be at least four and could grow to 32. Each home would house 12 girls.
Want to Volunteer?
Both foundations in India and Thailand need people to do construction supervision. Volunteers wanting to work with health care and education are welcome short or long term. English teachers, something we can all do, are always welcome. Most construction is reinforced concrete and concrete block. Current needs in Thailand are supervision of site preparation including soil compaction, asphalt road building, and reinforced concrete work for small road bridges – longer terms of one to three months or more work better for this. What About Donations?
While our India project receives adequate funding there is always more that can be done. Additional funds would simply expand our reach to educate and care for more children.
Chief Architect commitment for Opportunity Foundation Thailand includes all land purchases, development and construction costs, now and in the future. Operations and support for the children is to come from donations from both Thailand and the U.S. Any additional funds received will not be used for construction, but for support of children and for increased efforts in prevention and rescue of child trafficking victims in the border areas of Thailand.
Donations can be designated for Opportunity Foundation India or Thailand. They are tax deductible and are processed by:
