Chief Architect offers online and in-person training classes. These classes are an excellent way to increase your knowledge in the software, get your questions answered, connect with our staff, and network with industry peers. As a class participant, there are several things you can do to help prepare and ensure your success in a training class.
Homework & Handouts
For the following courses, there is recommended pre-course homework. In order to make the most of the training, this homework is recommended prior to class. There are also handouts and a library for some of the classes.

Pre-Class Survey
Chief Architect will email a survey and reach out to the class attendee via phone to see if there are any special accommodations we need to try to plan for or if there are any particular areas in the software they would like extra attention brought to. It is important to complete these communications with our staff so that we can best prepare for your success in class.
Complete the Pre-Class Survey. It will help us better address your needs and specific questions
If your class is an online training class, we use Zoom or GoToMeeting to host video conferencing. We recommend testing your internet, video, and audio prior to the training using the above links.
Computer
Make sure your computer is capable of running the software and you have the most up-to-date version of the software installed (see system requirements). If you are using a newer or different computer than you normally do, please make sure to:
- Install the most up-to-date version of Chief Architect
- Install the library catalogs (see below)
- Take a 3D and Elevation view to verify your computer’s video card functions properly
- Do the pre-class homework on the computer that you intend to use for the class
For Online Virtual Classes, we strongly recommend using a second screen (tablet or second monitor) so you can watch the class and use your main computer monitor for running Chief Architect.
Library Catalogs
Be sure you have downloaded the Core Library Content and updated any existing catalogs you have installed. See the diagram below.
For in-person classes, Chief Architect has laptops available for rent. To rent a laptop please contact Chief Architect directly a few weeks prior to class (the earlier the better, we have limited quantities).
What to Bring
- Computer (with Chief & downloads installed) – unless you are renting
- Mouse – recommended even if you have a laptop trackpad
- Webcam – recommended for online training events
- Computer power/accessories (such as Lightning-to-USB adaptors)
- Second screen (tablet or second monitor) – recommended for online training events
- Notepad
- Snacks, Water Bottle (sometimes provided by training venue)
Post Training
Once the class concludes Chief Architect will send you a post-class email with the class videos to review any areas you need extra training on. There will also be a link to a survey; we like to hear what you liked about the class or what we can improve and we take your feedback seriously. If you are a member of the NKBA, our classes are eligible for self-reporting CEU credits.
Lastly, we hope that you have a fun and enjoyable experience in the class, with our staff, and networking with other Chief users! We appreciate you taking the time to increase your knowledge of the software!
