DESCRIPTION

When I try to place or edit a floor or ceiling platform hole in my drawing, I receive one of the following messages:

  • "#272009057 - A floor or ceiling platform hole polyline is placed where the platform height changes, or where no platform exists. Move the hole so it is completely contained within a single platform."

  • "#272011653 - Could not create hole in floor platform."

What do these messages mean?

CAUSE & RESOLUTION

A hole in an object such as a floor or ceiling platform should be completely contained within that object. A platform hole should not touch the edge of the platform, extend past the edge of the platform, or be contained by multiple platforms.

If you draw a floor or ceiling platform hole at a location where it is not completely contained within a single floor or ceiling platform, one of these messages may display. If you receive the first message, the problem hole will be circled, as shown in the image below. Select  the hole and either adjust its size/position so it no longer spans multiple floor/ceiling platforms, or Delete  it. If you receive the second message, a hole will not be created.

Note: By default, floor and ceiling platform holes are placed onto the "CAD, Default" layer. If you are having trouble locating the problem hole, ensure that this layer is displayed, and that you are searching on each floor level within the plan.

A hole spanning multiple platforms is circled and highlighted

Going forward, make sure that each floor/ceiling hole present in your drawing:

  • Is completely located inside of a room with the relevant type of platform present. For example, the Hole in Floor Platform tool should not used to create a hole in an Open Below room;

  • Does not extend across multiple room areas with different floor or ceiling heights;

  • Does not extend across multiple room areas with different floor or ceiling platform definitions.
